Case Study
Fairview Cemetery
This project revolves around what those in east Fayetteville have long known as the ‘Cemetery Pond’. The design includes the addition of a columbarium within a peninsula in the lake and associated walkways to the nearby mausoleum. Also incorporated is a ‘Spreading Garden’ where the ashes of a loved one can be returned to the soil. We designed a stone stream that acts as an interesting garden feature but also acts as a biofilter for the lake. We designed a native stacked stone edge to line the lake and battle the erosion of the lake’s wave action.

Project Info
The resident ducks and geese of this site are known and loved by nearby neighbors. We made sure to keep the little green ‘duck house’ on site so the ducks will have a place to come in out of the rain. We also worked with the stone mason to provide sloped stones where the birds can easily climb in and out of the water.
